Under the government's new scheme,  you will pay 0% for demolishing a listed church and 20% VAT to maintain it.

This is the reality of the UK Government's decision to end the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme and replace it with a 'Listed Places of Worship Renewal Fund'.
From 1 April, listed places of worship will have to bear the full cost of VAT on repairs. This brings to an end a system that has operated successfully for 20+ years. Local people will now have to raise money not just to repair roofs and towers but to pay a 20% tax to the Government.

  • MAP. Now we have so many churches, it's getting harder to find a specific church. To make it easier, a map has been added. Find it under Our Churches in the top menu. It's meant to give a general idea, so check with your Satnav or Google. The postcode for each church is in the booklet and on the website.

  • Does your church have a choir? Look at this:
  • THE OUSELEY CHURCH MUSIC TRUST – grants, generally for of up to £5,000, are available to Choral Foundations, Choirs, Parish Churches, Cathedrals, Colleges and Schools in England, Wales and Ireland for the maintenance, performance and promotion of choral services in England, Wales and Ireland. The application deadlines for 2026 are on Saturday 28th February and Tuesday 30th June.
