Hello & Welcome

A website for those who love the churches and chapels of Shropshire, or would simply like to know more.

Are you visiting Shropshire? We hope this website gives you all the information you need to start exploring our churches.

Our aim is to encourage people to visit our churches and enjoy their peace, beauty and history.

GOOD NEWS!

The emergency work on the roof at St Mary the Virgin, Snead is finished! Thanks to grants from Hereford Diocese and Shropshire Historic Churches Trust.

AND

The 14th Century window at St Chad's, Prees, formerly at Battlefield Church, has now gone to be restored!. They have done a lot of fund raising and are confident of reaching their total, according to Phil Hodges, Churchwarden. Did you know that Prees has two very unusual cast iron grave slabs in the churchyard? St Chad's is a member, but not in the current booklet.

Handy hints

for your Church

  • Now we have so many churches, it's getting harder to find a specific church. To make it easier, a map has been added. Find it under Our Churches in the top menu. It's meant to give a general idea, so check with your Satnav or Google. The postcode for each church is in the booklet and on the website.
  • THE NEW BOOKLET IS OUT NOW!!
  • Please get rid of your old ones and display only the 2025 version.
  • We have a record 13 new members. The pages of the new Guide are bulging!
  •  7 more churches have joined since the new booklet came out in March. They have pages on this website. See especally, Ditton Priors and Prees.
  • National Churches Trust newsletter has several interesting articles this month, including ones on fundraising and how to run an open day. Subscribe here.(free)
