Often described as 'the Cathedral of the Marches', the famous church has
evolved over more than 800 years.
St Laurence's has many treasures, including: fine medieval timber screens,
an extensive set of misericords, late mediaeval stained glass windows and an impressive tower which is open to the public with spectacular views of town and countryside.

St Laurence's is one of only 18 churches given a FIVE STAR rating by Simon Jenkins in 'England's Thousand Best Churches'.

Your Opportunity to Appreciate Two Very Special Organs in St Laurence’s, Ludlow
Saturday 20 July 2019
Known as the ‘Cathedral of the Marches’, St Laurence’s is one of the finest parish churches
in England, with its great Snetzler organ. And, for a short time, the church houses the
Wetheringsett organ – the long-lost voice of the English medieval church.
On Saturday 20 July, organ enthusiasts will have a chance to listen to and learn about these
two marvellous organs. The programme is as follows:
11.15  Registration and coffee
12.00  Two-course lunch
1.00    Recital on the Snetzler organ:
Peter Dyke, Assistant Director of Music, Hereford Cathedral, plays an
Audience Request Programme - submit requests by 30th June to
2.05  Historic Tour of St Laurence’s Church, led by experienced guides
Brief Talk by Dominic Gwynn, from Goetze and Gwynn, on the Wetheringsett
Brief Talk by Andrew Body, from St Laurence’s, on the Snetzler organ
3.30  Tea and opportunity to play on the organs
The fee of £25 includes lunch, organ recital, tour, talks, time on the organ(s) and
refreshments. Without lunch, the cost is £12.50 per person.

payable to Ludlow PCC and a percentage of the fee will go to Arts @ St Laurence.
